All JET members,

We are pleased to invite you to an upcoming event hosted by the Minoh 
City Multicultural Exchange Center, titled "Living as an Immigrant – In 
New Zealand and Japan." This event marks the 30th anniversary of the 
international cooperation between Minoh City and Hutt City in New Zealand.

New Zealand, a country known for welcoming immigrants, saw the arrival 
of 170,000 immigrants in 2023 alone. However, even New Zealand is 
reviewing its policies, tightening work visa regulations in response to 
criticism that its immigration policies have gone "too far."

What does it mean to "live as an immigrant"?

We will hear from two guest speakers: Ohana, originally from Japan and a 
resident of Wellington for 8 years, and Neil Trace, a New Zealand native 
currently working as a Coordinator for International Relations (CIR) at 
Minoh City Hall. They will share their personal experiences of living as 
immigrants in New Zealand and Japan.

Please note, this event will be conducted in Japanese.

 * *Date*: Thursday, October 17, 2024, 6:30 PM–
 * *Venue*: Minoh City Gallery Chikanova (next to Minoh Senba
   Handai-mae Station, Exit)
 * *Fee*: 1,500 yen (includes light refreshments)
 * *Capacity*: 20 people (advance registration required, first come,
   first served)
 * *Organizer*: Minoh City Multicultural Exchange Center (managed by MAFGA)
