The Mugiwara-Taimatsu Torch, a traditional summer festival in the Kayano 
area where the JET House is located, will be held this coming Sunday, 
July 16.

The "Mugiwara-Taimatsu" festival was brought to Minoh from Atago Shrine 
in Arashiyama, Kyoto via the Saigoku-kaido Road, and has a long history 
spanning some 300 years. Atago Shrine is known as the god of fire, and 
in the Kayano area, people have long enshrined a card from Atago Shrine 
on top of the mountain as a god of fire prevention.

Why don't you join us in making torches for children to carry and make 
the festival more exciting?

This year, there are also local Jizo-bon festivals planned for August.

Please look forward to the "Mandoro Fire Festival," a larger version of 
the Mugiwara-Taimatsu event, scheduled for August at the Q's Mall.

These time slots are for children to make torches that they will carry 
when they run/march.
