MINOH JET-ALT UPDATES (Feb. 1, 2023)



This correspondence is issued by MAFGA JET-Support Team periodically to
update on the JET program and the community information in Minoh City.  Your
comment on this e-mail magazine is always welcome.



1.     Join MAFGA 30th Anniversary Event!

MAFGA(Minoh Association for Global Awareness) is in its 30th anniversary
since its foundation in June 1992. To celebrate the milestone, an
anniversary event will be held on February 23 (national holiday as the
Emperor’s Birthday) at the newly built Minoh Theatre for the Performing
Arts.  The event, which it is to start at 1:30pm at Grand Hall, will feature
a documentary film of MAFGA’s 30-year history and a symposium on
intercultural cohesion with culture/education specialists and business
communication professionals. With free admission, you can get a souvenir
tote bag with a MAFGA logo.

2.     Night Outing to ‘Minoh Winter Promenade’

On February 11 which is the National Foundation Day holiday, there will be
cool (and cold!) night events along the path to the Minoh Falls. The events
are featured as ‘Minoh Winter Promenade,’ to be held at the Ryuanji Temple
and the water fall. At 5:00-6:50pm on the day, a live concert of jazz/pop
music will be staged at the gate-front square of the temple with hot
beverage/food stands. There will also be a projection mapping show on the
stone wall and the main pavilion of the temple from sunset till 8pm. On top
of these events, night illuminations will be featured at the temple’s front
square in the weekend of February 11-12, as well as colorful light-up of the
water falls at night from February 11 through March 12.  Enjoy the winter

3.     Check ‘Minoh Multilingual Portal’

To get updated with local information, check the Minoh Multilingual Portal
web site https://portal.mafga.or.jp/ which is run by MAFGA. The website is
edited in multi-languages and posts useful information for the foreign
residents in Minoh. Most of the articles are cited from “THE MINOH POST”,
which is translated by citizen volunteers.  Main topics are the news and
notices from the Minoh City and MAFGA, as well as beneficial local
information to foreign residents in the area.



4.     COVID-19 Booster Shot by March End

If you plan to have vaccination of COVID-19 booster shot, you might be
better to make reservation soon. A booster shot application form was sent in
last autumn to those who had the second dose of vaccination. In the current
program by Japanese government, you can have a free booster shot (for
omicron vibrant) by the end of March with a vaccination voucher sent from
Minoh City. At present, there is no information on the vaccination program
after March. To get a free booster shot, you had better make reservation
now.



5.     MAFGA Stationing Calendar

See the attached stationing calendars. If it is hard for you to come to the
JET House, you may request an online meeting (google meet at
https://meet.google.com/mgu-jzik-hcj) during the stationing hours on
Wednesday and Friday. Please make an appointment in advance. MAFGA’s
hotline (090-3840-6954) is also available in case of emergency.
