MINOH JET-ALT UPDATES (Dec. 1, 2022)

This correspondence is issued by MAFGA JET-Support Team periodically to
update on the JET program and the community information in Minoh City. Your
comment on this e-mail magazine is always welcome.

1. Check Your Payment Dues Before Holidays

MAFGA’s records show that there were some cases of JET members who were
suspended with power and gas services during the winter break and new year
holidays, because of missing the payment due. In most cases, the reason for
missing the due is cash shortage in bank account, as December is the time
for extra spending. To avoid the service cut-off, check your payment dues
and your cash flow of bank account. Hokusetsu Gas’ due date is 5th every
month. As the due dates/amount of Osaka Gas and Kansai Electric are
different by individual customers, you need to check your dues with
meter-reading slips from those companies. Before they step into service
cut-off, they alert a customer of missing due. If you are not sure for an
alert, please ask MAFGA for help. The time for checking is worth spending
for peace of mind!

2. Dual Wave of COVID-19 and Influenza?

The eighth wave of COVID-19 infection is expected to come this winter
together with a wave of influenza. Reports from the south sphere regions
like Australia show that the dual wave and simultaneous infections with
corona and influenza viruses may cause a serious illness even for young
people. To protect yourselves, a flu-shot and another booster shot of
COVID-19 are strongly recommended. In case you get influenza positive, you
have to stay home or isolated for 5-days and use your paid holidays. It
would be easier to make flu-shot reservation in early winter.

3. MAFGA Service Calendar in Dec./Jan.

During the winter school break (between Dec. 24 and Jan. 9), MAFGA
stationing hours will change to 2-4pm on Wednesdays of Dec. 28 and Jan. 4 at
JET House. And MAFGA is closed between Dec. 29 and Jan. 3 for the year
end/new year holidays. See the attached stationing calendars. MAFGA’s
hotline (090-3840-6954) is available in case of emergency.

4.Observe the Rules for Garbage Disposal

There was a strong criticism from JET House neighbors recently against
scattered garbage around the house’s dumping area. Causes of the problem
are 1) throwing away on other days than the collection day, and 2) loose
covering by the net which is used to keep crows away. The burnable garbage
collection in the new year week is only on Thursday, Jan. 4 for the areas of
JET apartments in Kayano and Nishi-shoji, and will be back to normal
schedule of Tuesday/Friday pickup in the following week. As for the
large-size garbage, put garbage-disposal coupons on it and put way on the
collection day. Wherever you live, observing the rules is your
responsibility as a community member to keep the environment neat.

5. No Panic in Lost/Theft

Just in case you lost your wallet which includes your ID and a commuting
pass during your holiday outing, what are you going to do? You can go to
KOBAN police box for report. If you lost your room key, you can contact the
landlord, such as Driver Horse. If it is late night and there is no staff
at their office, you may use your own wisdom, such as knocking your JET
friend’s room for help, or staying with a hotel (or even a Karaoke box
running all night). In the case of losing your resident card, you need a
police report of the loss, which is required to attach to the resident card
reissuance application. Such police report can be filed only at the Minoh
Police Station (9am-5pm, Mon.-Fri.), while you can make an immediate report
of loss at a nearby police box (KOBAN) anytime.
