MINOH JET-ALT UPDATES (November 1, 2022)

This correspondence is issued by MAFGA JET-Support Team periodically to
update on the JET program and the community information in Minoh City.  Your
comment on this e-mail magazine is always welcome.

1.	MAFGA’s Multi-Ethnic Festival to Be Back
After 3 years of suspension due to COVID-19, the Multi-Ethnic Festival by
MAFGA is to be held on Sat., Nov. 12 at the Onohara Park near MAFGA
building. While food stands are not to open this time, you can enjoy stage
performances of folk music and a flea market from across the world.  A group
of JET volunteers will run a quoits (ring toss) corner at the world kid-play
field.  At the world market, you may get a great find in the categories of
clothes, candies, books and unique goods from different countries. Disaster
prevention programs will be presented in multi-languages too.  The event is
to be held 10am to 3pm and rained-off. For details, check

2. Try Creative Work with Bamboo!
On November 3 which is a national holiday, a free bomboo workshop is to be
held at MAFGA Building in Onohara.  It is to be run by volunteers of a
community social group in the area of Toyokawa-Minami Elementary School. At
the 2-hour workshop (1pm-3pm), you can try to create handicraft items like
chopsticks, plates, a flower vase and even a key chain. You can also enjoy
tea time at a nearby Bomboo grove. Although the attached flyer says signing
up by Oct. 27, you can sign up on the day of event starting at 12:45pm, or

3. Enjoy Momiji Matsuri (Maple Festival) in Minoh!
At the peak season to see colored autumn leaves, there are a variety of
events under the name of ‘Momiji Matsuri (Maple Festival) in Minoh.’ It
will run during a period of Nov. 12 - Dec. 4, with such events as night
light-up at the Minoh Waterfall and Ryuanji
(龍安寺) and Katsuoji (勝尾寺) Temples, and bus tours from Hankyu Minoh
Station to Minoh Waterfall and the Katsuoji Temple (day and night tours).

There is also night yoga events under the beautiful light-up of maple trees
in the yard of Saikoji Temple(西江寺)at 5-7pm on Nov. 18th, 19th, 26th and
Dec. 4. As it is run by a professional yoga instructor at the cost of
1,200yen per event, you need to sign up in advance. For details, see its web

4. Omicron-specific COVID-19 Booster Shot
In accordance with the national government’s policy, Omicron-specific
COVID-19 vaccination is now available for those 12-years or older with two
doses or more of vaccinations taken at latest 3-months before.  Minoh city
office is now sending a vaccination coupon for the booster shot to those who
finished the last shot 3 months or more ago. If you already received a
vaccination coupon for the 3rd or 4th shot and have not taken a booster shot
with it yet, you could use the coupon for the Omicron-specific booster shot.

5. Yokoi Clinic Changes Its Business Hours
If you plan to have vaccination for influenza at Yokoi Clinic in Nishishoji,
be aware of its business hours which changed recently; 9am-12 noon (Mon.
through Sat.), 5pm-7pm (Mon. & Fri.), and 4pm-7pm(Wed.). No reservation is
necessary for a flu shot for which you have to pay 3,500yen in cash at the
counter.
